Frequently Asked Questions

In no particular order, here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions.

Do you have a retail location?

We do not. We sell our pasta at farmers markets in Philadelphia. You can also find our pasta on the shelves at Riverwards Produce (Fishtown & Old City).

Do you offer shipping?

Yes! Shipping is now available for dried pasta only. Please visit our website www.thepastalab.com to place an order.

I would like to pick up my order at X market. Why isn't the date showing up as an option during checkout?

Our calendar does not list market dates that are more than 7 days out because our offerings change weekly and so does our market schedule. Lets say, for example, todays date is Monday June 29th and you are trying to place an order for pickup at Headhouse on Sunday that same week (July 5th). This date will be visible to you and you will be able to proceed through checkout easily. If, instead, you are attempting to place an order for pickup that following Sunday (July 12th) you will not be able to make a selection for that date because it is more than 7 days out.

Can I pay with EBT?

We accept EBT in person at Headhouse, Clark Park and Fairmount farmers markets. We can not accept EBT for online preorders.

Do you deliver to my neighborhood?

We are currently not making home deliveries.

Can I freeze your pasta?

Absolutely. We suggest you keep our filled pasta frozen until you're ready to cook it. It does not need to be defrosted before cooking. Extruded pasta (spaghetti, rigatoni, ziti, etc) can be stored in your refrigerator for ~10 days. If you'd rather freeze it for later use, that works too. This pasta can be cooked from frozen as well. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pay close attention to the use by date on your pasta. While your frozen pasta may technically be safe to eat beyond the use by date - you can expect a slow reduction in quality the longer it is stored in your freezer. We want you to have a good experience, so eat it sooner than later!

Are preorders really necessary? Can I just show up at a market and purchase this stuff?

Preorders are not necessary but highly encouraged. Our most popular products (filled pasta, tagliatelle) tend to sell out quickly at our markets. If you place a preorder online, you can rest assured that your items will be waiting for you at the market you select during checkout. One other thing worth noting; We have a handful of pantry items available online that you will not see in person at our markets. Preordering gives you access to a greater variety of products such as salumi, aged cheese, and tomato products.

Do you offer gluten free pasta?

Not at this time. We feel that in order to do gluten free properly, the producer should really have a dedicated facility for this purpose.
